About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Join us at the Mission Bay Library Branch and learn the basics of biking in San Francisco at our Intro to Biking in SF with Bay Wheels workshop. We are offering a 120-minute course covering bicycling for everyday riding in SF, the rules of the road, route planning, how to use Bay Wheels, and details of Bike Share for All (Bay Wheels’ program for low-income participants). The first half of the class will be in the classroom, and in the second half we’ll hit the streets, practicing how to check out a Bay Wheels bike and going for a short group ride. This course is a great class for people who already know how to bike but are considering bicycling more in the city, joining Bay Wheels, or looking to brush up on urban skills. Additionally, free memberships to Bay Wheels will be given out to class attendees.

Topics Covered:

  • Helmet fit
  • Preparing to Ride
  • Rules of the Road
  • Safety Skills & Tips
  • Route Planning
  • How to use Bay Wheels
  • Bike Share for All (for low-income participants)

No bicycle is necessary for this class. We strongly recommend participants bring their own bike helmet!
